Reports coming from the German press suggest that the Bavarian club have identified the French custodian as their prime target to defend their goal following the retirement of veteran Oliver Kahn.

Frey has been linked with a move to a bigger club for quite some time now, and it is believed that he has been followed by a host of clubs across Europe.

Bayern are believed to be lining up a move of €20 million for the 28-year-old shot-stopper, but they should have to deflect interest from the likes of Barcelona, AC Milan or Arsenal to win the race for the Frenchman’s signature.

Frey joined Fiorentina on loan during the 2005/06 season, having signed a permanent deal with the club at the end of the year following a first-rate season at the Florence-based club.
